Rachael Kras is an accomplished costume designer and wardrobe professional with over a decade of experience in professional performing arts. Having sewn since youth, she has cultivated exceptional expertise in costume construction, design, and wardrobe management across diverse theatrical and dance productions.
With prior experiences as the Resident Costume Designer and Wardrobe Manager for Wonderbound (formerly Ballet Nouveau Colorado), Rachael designed costumes for numerous original world premieres and acclaimed productions, including collaborations with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Baroque Chamber Orchestra, DeVotchKa's Tom Hagerman, Smuin Ballet, Colorado Conservatory of Dance, Professor Phelyx (Magician) and various prominent musical artists. Her work spans classical ballet, contemporary dance, musical theater, music videos, and short films, with notable projects including, "The Seven Deadly Sins," "Boomtown," and "A Gothic Folktale." Her film and music video work includes collaborations with Grammy-nominated electronic music producer, composer, and technologist BT (Brian Transeau) and Kristi Krings from Nation of One.
Rachael's design work has been featured in prominent publications including Pointe Magazine, 5280.com, and 303 Magazine, and has received recognition through industry awards and nominations. Her extensive professional stitching credits include major productions at The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, such as "Les Misérables," "Miss Saigon," and "Evita."
Beyond design, Rachael excels in wardrobe management and photo shoot styling for productions, as well as providing styling services for bands and musicians. As a skilled costumer, she is able to replicate any style with precision and authenticity. With specialized skills in corsetry, millinery, vintage restoration, and period costume construction of any era, she brings both technical mastery and creative vision to every project. Her comprehensive understanding of AGMA and Actor's Equity procedures, combined with her expertise in project and budget management, makes her a valuable collaborator for productions of any scale.
